Qigong

Qigong, pronounced “chi gong” was developed in China thousands of years ago as part of traditional Chinese medicine. Qigong translates to Qi = life force energy/subtle breath & Gong = practice or skill development. So, qigong is the practice of working with energy/subtle breath.

How it works:

Qigong involves using exercises to optimize energy within the body, mind, and spirit, with the goal of improving and maintaining health and well-being. Qigong benefits both the body and mind through the regulation of breath, mindful body movements, and posture.

Qigong techniques primarily consist of gently flowing — and connected — standing movements. Qigong facilitates the centering, sinking, and grounding of your energy. Qigong is a tool for managing your energy, while strengthening your vitality and spirit.

In your 1:1 qigong sessions, Michael takes you through unique warm-up movements and breathing practices, including The Five Pumps and a transformative grounding practice, Deep Earth Pulsing, helping you to ground the body and open energy channels, assisting you in feeling qi in a tangible way.

Michael teaches the Dragon Orbit qigong form — a six posture set activating & balancing yin/yang energy in your system, in conjunction with the Microcosmic Orbit.

One of Michael’s favorite practices is 6 Healing Sounds, as it stabilizes and relieves the mental and emotional bodies. It’s a set of sounds and movements that allow the releasing of accumulated emotional qi (yours + others) from your lungs, kidneys, liver, heart, spleen/stomach, and your entire system. In Michael’s 1:1 Qigong sessions, you’ll have the opportunity to learn this practice.

A fundamental practice of emotional balancing within the qigong system is the Inner Smile. You’ll get direct guidance from Michael on this tool, so you can use it any time you’re experiencing chronic or momentary emotional distress.

In addition, Michael guides you through a Shuigong practice. Shuigong consists of sleep preparation practices that settle thoughts and disperse excess energy located in the head before bedtime to ensure a more restful sleep.

1:1 Qigong sessions are 60 minutes in length and recorded on Zoom for future playback.
